"TORONTO" - 2018
I created this print as a tribute to a city that embraced me for 8 years. My wife and I moved to Toronto from Montreal when we decided to focus on building our careers and starting a family. We were lucky enough to follow our passions in Toronto and then to be blessed with twins. To us, Toronto is a place where hope springs from ambition. Toronto’s inhabitants, like the city itself, are diverse and somewhat fragmented, but ultimately connected by a shared desire to dream, grow, and become better versions of themselves. This print embodies that spirit of hope and cohesion that can come from difference and fragmentation.
With its iconic design and commanding colour scheme this sunrise is meant to symbolize the dawning of a new era for Toronto, a home on the right path to becoming whole as an inclusive, forward thinking city that rewards hard work and ingenuity.
I later painted a 2000sq.ft. mural of it.
